I am an instructor at Virginia College and VC recently cancelled its ASVAB tutoring program. I have had many successful students go through the program, but due to funding constraints the college can no longer support the initiative. My comments on tutoring Algebra : I can teach all HS level and under mathematics.

Obtuse; willing to think outside of the box to get the student interested, even, excited to learn.
I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. I've taught my nieces and nephew to understand and love mathematics, as well as respect science, which is really just the real-world application of mathematics. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my undergraduate experience, I worked with many of my fellow students to help them better understand chemistry concepts. I have gained experience in all of the major fields of chemistry including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry. I have even completed inorganic/physical chemistry research which I presented to other scientists. I currently work as a chemist, which keeps my skills sharp.

I really enjoy working one on one. When a student masters a skill, it is very rewarding. Every student learns differently and they have a tendency toward either kinetic, hearing or sight. If one method of learning does not work, then I have tried another until something clicks with the student. One needs to find out what pushes their buttons and gets them excited. For 1:1 tutoring my teaching style will vary depending on the individual's needs and the topic covered. I try to work at the student’s learning pace in an effort to allow the student time to comprehend and retain what is covered within the session. I am not interested in helping others learn what I know (and love) to find out later that I was "too fast" for them to use the information after the session.
