I am beginning my 14th year of teaching. I have taught from 3rd to 6th grade, with a heavy focus on Reading and Language. I also taught Adult Literacy classes and have worked as the Reading Specialist at our school which involved working with teachers on best practice in Reading Instruction. I missed my "babies" and went back into the classroom and have never looked back. I also taught the 4 modes of writing to our 5th graders in order to prepare them for The Alabama Direct Assessment of Writing. I have a calm, loving environment in my classroom. I expect the best from my students and they never let me down. I play classical music during their work time and allow them to work in partners, groups, and individually daily. I have previously, and am currently, tutoring a fourth grade student with his spelling and math. I graduated from Auburn High School with a 3.8 GPA. I have an ACT score of 30.
