My comments on tutoring Elementary Grammar : I am an expert at grammar, as both of my grandfathers were college professors. (My paternal grandfather taught at Harvard.) I have funny examples to make the boring subject of grammar fun. From a vague antecedent to a comma splice, I can point out examples of bad grammar in your speaking or writing, or make up examples, and explain what the mistakes are called and what the correct grammatical form is. I am currently employed by a college in Roanoke, Virginia as a tutor of mathematics, chemistry, and computer science and tutor elementary school, middle school, high school, college students, and others professionally. For the last 23 years, it has been so fulfilling working for three colleges and tutoring independently over 2,000 students of all ages in all areas of math and computer science, as well as college writing, adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in meeting students at their level of need, and mastering the skills needed in order to move onto higher level skills. I believe in teaching students how to develop their critical thinking skills, and teaching them the concepts needed to succeed in school and life.
I have my degree in Elementary Education. I have had experience teaching large class sizes, but I have also spent a lot of time in small group reading instruction, and I have worked in small group math. I tutored a kindergarten girl to improve her phonemic awareness. I tutored Language Arts in elementary school after school hours. I worked at a day care for 5 years and helped students with their homework after school.
