I have taught ESL for 12 years and high school English for 2 years in public schools. I tutored my first subjects many years ago while in college when I tutored Composition I and II, Poetry, and Psychology. I have since tutored many hours in English-related areas. I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak.
