I try to be really patient because I know some subjects aren't very logical to some students.
I have been tutoring ever since elementary school. Since I was the only one that knew how to read, I had to assist in the others' learning of Phonetic sounds. As an instructional assistant for kindergarden I was responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with daily instrucion and activities. I provided individual instruction when needed and assisted in developing behavior modificaion plans.
I enjoy working with elementary aged children. I believe that all children want to learn but all have individual styles that an instructor must recognize. You can actually see the "a-ha" factor when a child has processed and understood something. That is my favorite expression. It looks like surprise and joy all in one facial expression. A Little Bit About Me...

While a student at the University of the West Indies I taught Reading, Math and Language arts to students in Grades 7-8. I was able to use the knowledge in gained in Linguistics to strengthen my students' language skills. After moving to New York i taught math to students in grades 6 and 4,I was also incharge of the afterschool math tutorial program.
