Let's make learning fun!!!

I like to do a lot of positive reinforcing and reaffirming.
I have worked with children for over 15 years. During this time I have provide homework help and tutoring in Math, Reading and Spanish. The children that I have worked with range in age from 5 to 17 years old. I have also done an extensive amount of work with infants and toddlers in the field of early learning as a nanny. My experience in working with children of so many ages has helped me to know what steps to implement in order to make children feel comfortable and confident while addressing challenges to learning materials. I have always enjoyed math and reading as a student and spent a short period of time studying Spanish abroad. During my time in college I was even more hands on with the youth enrichment at my church, working as a counselor/mentor for Vacation Bible School and the after school program.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I have one year of experience tutoring university students but am willing to work with students of any age and adapt to their learning styles. I lived and studied in Salamanca, Spain for three months as well as lived and studied in San Jose, Costa Rica for two weeks. I have also traveled to other Spanish speaking countries such as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

I am flexible. I would like to teach the way the student will benefit the most, so I will ask him how he would like to learn.
I have a year experience tutoring university students, but I am willing to try any age group. I was paid to tutor basic up to intermediate/advanced Spanish. During summer 2015 I worked in a Latino Hispanic American Community Center doing translations and also some tutoring adults. I have experience with the language, being that I studied in both Spain and Costa Rica as well as visiting other Spanish speaking countries.

I am a high school Spanish teacher with 4 years of experience. I currently teach locally levels 3-5, but have experience with all. I am finishing up my Masters degree in Spanish with St. Louis University Madrid campus. I have studied 4 consecutive summers in Spain and travel there 3 times a year. I graduated college with top honors. I worked as a Juvenile/Shelter Care Counselor at Berks County Youth Center where I worked with children of all ages and races. I am semi bi-lingual in Spanish. I took three years of Spanish courses in college. I supervised children in school and daily activities, but was also responsible for helping them complete all homework assignments, organize educational activities , help teach all school subjects, as well as tutor children in need of extra help in school. I believe in constructivism. Students learn more when they make their own learning. They need to see the real world application of the material and how it applies to them.
