Looking for fun studying?! I'm only one call away! :)

I have worked with many young students. Reading, math, spelling... I find helping students very fun. Not only does it benefit them but me as well. I am very patient with people of all ages and I do feel that I have made an impact on many children's lives. I am currently a senior in High School but I am volunteering in my local church classes and volunteering for my local Elementary school as well.
Patient, I provide learning ideas for my students, all I ask for are open eyes and ears.

Patient with lots of heart! If you wish to learn I can help

Taught to every age! I was in Europe for 9 years and opened my own American English School. Taught every level from pre-school to Engineers. Also translated and wrote policies and procedures for the European Union REACH program. Taught 3d and 4th grade in Germany. One example: taught English to German elemantary students using the game of baseball to learn new words. My oldest student was 79 years young! The youngest was 4.
Motivation is first. Find out what students skills are and add what they like to encourage learning. Games are always good to encourage all ages to learn. Repetition! Once their grades improve their self confidence will too. Lots of heart and patience!

Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I am a certified special education teacher with 26 years of experience at every level from pre-K to high school.I am fluent in Spanish. I have a strong background in teaching reading. I am also a certified Irlen screener. Many students who exhibit dyslexic traits have Irlen Syndrome, which can be helped with the use of an Irlen spectral filter. Quite often the dyslexic symptoms disappear. More information can be given upon request. I am certified to test for Irlen Syndrome, which would require a separate fee. I have a calm disposition and an enormous amount of patience. I am very skilled at determining the individual needs of a student and I am able to make a positive difference.

I am calm, and extremely patient. I have the ability to determine if a student learns best by hearing, seeing or doing. I can adapt all subjects to best meet the learning styles of each individual student. Individualizing lessons is an area of strength for me. I am experienced in most subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

It has been my privilege to teach at many levels and venues over my career which started in the mid 70’s. Elementary Education was my first major, and I enjoyed teaching in a Christian setting at 5th and 6th grade levels for many years. I opened my own Reading Center to help special students. Later I went to graduate school at St John’s College. I’ve taught Jr. High, H.S., and Jr. College. Most recently Sylvan Learning Center has given me great experience teaching reading, writing, and math.
My goal is to help students succeed in learning and in gaining confidence. My teaching style is to get the student engaged through multi-sensory and high interest sources. Utilizing student’s strengths helps gain early success and a willingness to grow and be challenged in new areas. I consider my 25 years of teaching experience to be a rich storehouse from which I can draw for futu ... read more
