My comments on tutoring French : I'm working on my B.A in French. My French is also a my second language after Arabic.

I believe that language is the passport that can help you travel and understand the other culture; Therefore, teaching a second language is very important. I believe that being patient and creative is the essence of teaching, and in order to create well educated students, I should give them an extra time to be fluent in reading, writing and speaking the language.
French is my second language which I read and write since I was in third grade. I have earned an Associate in Art from community college, and I'm working on my BA in French. As a student in UMSL university,I'm practicing my French daily which is contributing in expanding my knowledge about French culture. As a tutor, I understand my responsibility primarily as that of helping children reach their potential. I try to help my students understand concepts they are struggling with in primarily three ways. First, I find what their strengths are and see if I can extend understanding of these concepts to the one's they are struggling with. Secondly, I use many examples of a concept to break complex math down into simpler, concise ideas and problem-solving techniques. Third, I try a number of different conceptual approaches to determine which is the most useful for a particular student.

Learning should be fun. I strive to make a point of this when ever I teach. I do this in both lectures and tests. I find a little humor takes the edge off test taking and allows the student to concentrate on the subject matter without being nervous.

I decided to earn my BA in French since languages seemed like second nature to me. Additionally, I had to take Italian and I taught myself to read Greek. My tutoring started in high school when I successfully raised a students grade of F to an A in French. I also received an ESL Certification from London and used that here in St. Louis to teach ESL where I was employed at ELS. One of my students hired me privately as well and still consults with me. Over the course of my education, I have been called upon to assist other classmates with understanding French.
