I have a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from a well-known university in the U.S. I have about 20 years of experience teaching Spanish and Portuguese on the college level. This includes elementary and intermediate levels, conversation, composition, literature, culture, film and medical Spanish. I also enjoy tutoring younger students. I lived in Brazil and have traveled extensively all over Latin America, Spain and Portugal. I am a native speaker of English and would enjoy tutoring ESL again. I had an experience teaching ESOL for 8 years with ST.Louis Public Schools District, through my work with people from different countries and different languages,I learned about their cultures and at the same time they enjoyed learning the English language, so they can be able to express their ideas and thought. Besides English, I had a long experience teaching the Arabic language. 10 years ago and until now I'm working at Global village Center and Brunetti language center. I believe that all children want and try to do their best, but sometimes need an extra push. I think it is necessary to use the appropriate curriculum, but to find out what teaching method works best for each student as we all learn differently. It is also important for each child/student to have some flexibility in what they learn in order to express their individuality and own creativity.

My teaching style first and foremost is to not find translations. The easiest way to understand is to find the cultural equivalent. Because I have a passion for languages and teaching, patience is never a second thought. Throughout my educational career I have accumulated a variety of resources to assist in my teaching and find patterns that make it easier for the student to work with.
