As a person who holds both a BA and MA in English, each with concentrations in writing (creative and technical, respectively), I am qualified to, and have for several years, tutored English language studies skills, including composition, grammar, punctuation, and reading comprehesion, to students from the third grade through college. I have also taught English composition at the college level. Additionally, I have tutored students from primary to secondary school in other liberal arts subjects where English language and study skills are applicable, such as social studies and history. I have always loved working with children and I believe I can make a positive difference in childrens' lives. Children learn through seeing, hearing, saying, feeling and doing. I try to determine which combination of learning styles are best for each individual student and then use that method to teach them the subject. I think each child wants to learn and succeed and I believe I can help them be a success. I come from a family of readers, I love to read, and I love to teach children to become good readers. I think reading is one of the most important skills one can posess and many doors open for good readers.
