I have a positive approach to teaching. I am very patient when I go through the lessons and go back and review any older material if it is needed in order to grasp the current lesson of the day. I work hard to make the content stick and I always enjoy to see that light of realization in their eyes when they grasp the concept I am teaching them.
My background in Atmospheric Sciences gives me a good base in science and math. I feel my skills will allow me to tutor with both science and math classes, including Calculus I and II classes. Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. Guiding a student down the path of their own learning style is important because they will need those skills in the future when they go off to college or start a career on their own. I will provide students with the tools they need to succeed today and in the future!

A Little Bit About Me...

After my training in graduate studies, I have come to believe in heuristics method of teaching. I believe the students are best served when we motivate, encourage and provide an environment so students can begin learning on their own unique style. Instead of showing them how to do it, I plan to first know how would they do it. I want to encourage them to develop their own style of learning while giving constant feedback along the process. I graduated from the University of Redlands, in Redlands, CA, with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Communicative Disorders. I have teaching credentials for both Minnesota and California as an elementary educator. During my college years, I was employed as a tutor where I worked with grades K-12 in all subject matters. I have also been a reading and mathematics tutor for a non-profit tutoring center and was employed with the Redlands Unified School District as an American Reads/Phonetics tutor.
