Arabic is one of my top subjects! I have lived in Jordan for 10 years and speak, read, and write Arabic fluently.

I spent the first 8 years of my life in California, after which I moved with my family to Jordan. There I enrolled in a Jordanian school through the eleventh grade. I moved back to California to finish my final year of high school and then to Cincinnati to finish my bachelor's degree. My major was International Affairs with an emphasis on the Middle East.
I believe it is important to learn the fundamentals of Arabic through the study of both formal standard Arabic and dialectical forms. Additionally, I believe all students should master reading, writing, and speaking with equal competency.

My comments on tutoring Arabic : Experience in Modern Standard and Levantine dialects

I have held private sessions for students at Centre College to learn both Spanish and Arabic, and have served as a translator during my college choral group's tour in Spain. I have over six years of experience speaking Spanish and three and a half years of experience speaking both Modern Standard and Levantine dialects of Arabic.
My preferred teaching style is immersion, which in my experience encourages the rapid initial skill development necessary to learn a second language.

I have a friendly teaching style; I use a lot of sense of humor. But, this takes a lot of hard work to achieve. The reason I am able to teach French grammar in a non-intimidating, almost very relaxing way, is because I had to master it. I have a way of getting closer to my students and to their difficulties by having the ability to relate almost every chapter I introduce to my personal experiences. And, I have anecdotes almost about any new topic I present. I am a story teller in that sense. Sometime my students beg me to tell them more anecdotes. I tell them if they want to hear more stories, they have to do this, or that. And almost always agree with smiles that seem to say “you got us!”
