I have a B.S. and a M.ED. in Education with a minor in English. I have been a teacher for 28 years from Early Childhood to college English. I have also been a free lance writer for several years and have published magazine articles. Through my education and work experience I have developed marketable writing skills and can tutor others in grammar, composition, and literature. I have tutored in all subjects, including math, through grade 6 as well. I have a laid-back teaching style and do not like to put pressure on students who are striving to their best. I enjoy building students' confidence and developing them to their potential. I am trained in the theory of multiple intelligences and believe in teaching to a child's learning style. As a caregiver for my two nephews and one niece I feel that I am very qualified to work with children. Since moving back to Memphis I have been very involved in their education and upbringing. I graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, La., where I was a tutor for the Saturday Science Academy. In the program, I was responsible for following a strict lesson plan designed to prepare the students for the yearly LEAP Exam, which is equivalent to the Memphis City School's TCAP.
