I have an MS in physics and a BS in mathematics. I have twenty years tutoring students in math and physics, starting while working on my BS. I taught trigonometry as a teaching assistant at portland State University while a graduate student. I also taught at Chemeketa Community College as a supplemental instructor, holding group tutoring sessions for basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry, for classes that used these subjects as part of the course. I enjoy teaching and creating interest in the subject that is being taught. I have learned from experiance that the more interested the students become in the subject, the better they learn. I have found that many students have a psychological barrier when it comes to mathematics and the sciences. I love teaching and working with students of all ages. My goal is to address the areas of difficulty and to instill confidence and an experimental attitude in my students. I think that if a student is advised of ways to solve problems and given the tools to search out answers, they do better in all areas of life. As an Art Director, Graphics Designer continually working with communications - including tutoring clients and co-workers in how to frame their messages and sometimes in software use, I think I have crossover skills which would be of use to your students.

After graduation, I taught on a transitional teaching license. I taught in the Woodburn School District. I then went to Japan and taught English as a second language. I grew up between Bolivia and the United States and speak Spanish and English fluently. I took statistics in university and taught math in Spanish from time to time as a substitute for the Woodburn School District. In Woodburn I taught a self contained classroom for a while. I had to teach ELL students Social Studies, Math, Language arts in both Spanish and English and science. As a substitute I taught all kinds of classrooms including all subject matters. This makes me qualified to teach a variety of subject matters in a variety of situations.
