I come from a family which highly values broad education in all fields. My degree in Studio Art allowed me to explore a broad range of academic topics. Everyone has a distinct learning style and attitude. I relish the opportunity to present subject matter to students in the precise manner that invokes that "eureka" moment where they finally achieve understanding of something that has frustrated, intimidated, or eluded them. I enjoy teaching and creating interest in the subject that is being taught. I have learned from experiance that the more interested the students become in the subject, the better they learn. I have found that many students have a psychological barrier when it comes to mathematics and the sciences. Once that barrier is brought down, the students interest in the subject starts to perk, and it's all uphill from there. I strive to break the subject down for easy understanding, and at the same time create as much interest for the students as possible. I have an MS in physics and a BS in mathematics. I enjoy the process of helping students to learn. It is a great experience to see their minds grasp a new concept or idea. I realize that each student is an individual and as such may have a different learning style than another. My goal is to facilitate that learning so they feel and are successful in conquering the lessons to be learned. I have had a variety of experiences as a teacher. I, at first, worked as a substitute for about 3 years. Then I worked as a 3rd-grade teacher in a private school for one year. Because of enrollment that position was cut. I went back to subbing for a time. From 2004-2009 I have worked for the Dallas School District as a personal tutor. I primarily worked with middle school-high school students. I tutored them both at home and at a computer lab on an internet program. That position was cut because of budget cuts. I am able to tutor in all basic subjects
