I tutored math and science for Carl Albert State College from Sept. 1994 to May 1995. I tutored mostly in Algebra, but also in word processing, and anatomy and physiology. I tutored for Sheridan Community College in Sheridan WY from Jan. 2000 to July 2004. I tutored mostly higher maths, ranging from algebra to business calculus. I also tutored general biology, microbiology, general chemistry, and human biology. I also taught for Sheridan Community College from Aug 2001 to Aug 2008. The knowledge gained from completing an accounting degree from an accredited accounting program has possessed me with real world function and theoretical application of multiple accounting systems. My education was not limited to material found on a CPA Exam, but was broad in scope covering new fields in forensic's accounting, and old staples of accounting for natural resources such as petroleum. I am proficient in many accounting fields such as Financial (FASB), Cost, Auditing, Information Systems, Encumbrance, Not for profit, and Advanced mergers and consolidations. I believe the most important skill we can impart to children is a love for learning, and a curiosity about life. That, with a firm foundation in reading and math, will take them anywhere they want to go. I do utilize more of a socratic rather than a didactic approach, and endeavor to involve the learner in discovery as much as possible. I believe that everyone can learn if given the proper encouragement. Upon graduation from college, I taught 7th grade English for two years, then Gifted & Talented grades 4-6. I left the field of teaching for marriage and babies. My husband was in the military, so we moved quite often. I homeschooled our two children for most of their elementary years. There are many ways to present material, such as discussion, visual effects and hands-on. What I have learned is that many people can learn through more than one way of teaching.
