My teaching style is to provide several ways to solve a problem. Since learning is done in different ways, one of the solution methods will turn on a light bulb and the student will "get it". I bring additional materials and new ways to remember. Last fall I tutored a fifth grader in mathematics. I provided note cards for him in the various solution formulas. At Purdue University I took all Engineering degree mathematics courses. In addition, I took five statistical cources, three of them were graduate level. At AlliedSignal, I received a week's training to teach three day courses in Total Quality Leadership to employees. Over the course of one year, I conducted twenty four courses with a partner facilitator. One company I worked for was a supplier to Caterpillar. In the course of mutual problem solving, I was able to be certified as a Green Belt.

I taught H.S. chemistry I & II in the Indianapolis area from 2001-2005. Entering college at Western Michigan U, I had plans on becoming a teacher, but went into the analytical research laboratory. I've always had a passion to teach. Life took me down a few different paths but I've managed to find my way back to teaching. As a trainer of people I prefer a question based style to teaching. I believe that the key to success is to assess a person's ability, their current understanding, and develop a system which maximizes their potential. Setting expectations up front and adapting to personal learning styles aid in facilitating learning. I believe that every person has the ability to learn, and the key to successfully teaching is to peak a students interest by relating learning to the "real world" and constantly reinforcing their accomplishments through setting goals and recognizing their contributions.
