A Little Bit About Me...

During my senior year in high school, I tutored and mentored at a program named AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). This program is designed to prepare students for college. My job was to help students with any subject they were having trouble with. Math was the most common subject that students needed help with the most. In high school I took geometry, algebra, and math analysis. Statistics is my highest level of college math. I believe that with my experience and knowledge in math I can be a successful math tutor.
I sit with students and ask them what they are having trouble with. I will then explain to them and make it as clear as possible so they can understand better the subject they are having trouble with. My teaching style varies according to the different areas of need in each child. No one child is the same, and they all learn in different manners. I approach the student with a safe and clean environment in which they feel the most comfortable learning. A method that works best for them and a friendly approach that makes them understand I care about them and am there to help. I keep in mind that every child has a different way in which to reach goals, so I provide each child with an individualized goal sheet.
As a daughter of an elementary education teacher, I have been driven by a passion to teach children in areas where they show need. I am in my second year in Northern Arizona University with junior credits. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching because it allows me to connect with youth. I find them very humorous. Some work hard, while others not so much, but either way, a teacher can learn so much from their student. Working in educatuion is a challenge I enjoy, especially when I see how well a student progresses. I hope to be able to continue to make a differnce in a young person's life and be a positive influence on them.
In May of 2004 I graduated from a small liberal arts college in Tacoma, Washington. I majored in English with an emphasis in writing.
