My comments on tutoring Math : I am currently helping several students prepare for the Math section of the SAT and the ACT. I am also able to offer some help with Math through Algebra I and Geometry. I am not as experienced in these subjects so I am willing to offer discounted rates.

I like to nurture my students without enabling them. I tend to ask my students pointed questions about the subject at hand to inspire critical thinking and push them to arrive at their own interpretation of the correct answer. I feel that this best prepares them for college-level work.
I graduated from Princeton University with a BA (cum laude) in History and will be starting a Ph.D. program in History in the fall. There are many arrays of learning styles. I personally use visually, writing, and seeing the bigger picture. First, the mind can develop a concept or help map out the ideas by seeing the picture to the learning task. Second writing helps to reinforce the concept or idea. Lastly seeing the bigger picture helps to encompass their own ideas as well as the originator ideas.
