I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. I try to create a relaxed and fun (silly for the little ones) atmosphere where learning will be fun and memorable, because I believe that if you enjoy it - you'll remember it. I believe that not all people learn the same. I certainly learn differently depending on the subject. I also know that reading and writing papers can be a scary task. I specialize in close reading, which means getting students to understand what they are reading and come up with a topic for a paper. Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. There are only a hand full of methods to choose from, they include: hands on, visual, reading, hearing or some unique blend of these. These are not the only methods, but these would cover most individuals. While I was teaching I would explain the material how I understood it. If that did not work it forced me to back up and come at it from a different angle. I graduated from Adams State College in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an Emphasis in Literacy. I was a substitute teacher for grades K-5 for one semester.
