A Little Bit About Me...

I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.

As a Purdue graduate, I was the recipient of the highest level of instruction in math and science. As an undergraduate I was named on the Dean’s list six times and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. In order to be granted this degree I was required to gain a great understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have been on the cutting edge of computer science from the first hand held calculators. I can program in FORTRAN, Assembly, Basic, Pascal, and C languages, on a variety of platforms. After working as an engineer for 20 years, I then pursued a teaching license and have taught High School math for the last decade.

A Little Bit About Me...

I personally believe all children have the ability to be taught how to learn using a variety of methods from whole language to modified versions of other methods such as phonics for Reading instruction. Many children with different learning styles also have the need to use creativity as well as a wide-variety of various multi-sensory approaches. Along with reading comes writing, hand-in-hand writing needs to be integrated for various audiences as well as purposes which can and will be applicable in everyday settings.
