A Little Bit About Me...

With my years of being around and in an educational environment, I have picked up patterns of repetition and summary to reinforce ideas being conveyed. I, myself, learn best by doing. Through studying adult learning styles, I discovered that studies show utilizing all facets of learning - writing, audio, visual, and hands on - leads to the highest levels of retention. I teach by 1) talking by the student to determine his or her best learning style and 2) utilizing the various methods listed above so that the student can retain the maximum amount of information through his or her best learning style.

I have a B.A. in Accounting as I have a great passion for the financial world. I have always LOVED math as I feel it gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I am able to take a problem that I've been given and find a solution. I have a strong desire to pass this on to others. I have been working in Outdoor Education for the past year and a half. I spent 7 months living and working at a boarding school. I have a BS in Wildlife Biology, with honors, which gives me an excellent background in math and science. I have worked as a wildlife field technician over the last four years including a position with the Northern Divide Grizzly Bear Project. I have volunteered for the Watershed Education Network, a non-profit organization that educates young students about the importance of water quality and introduces them to stream monitoring science. In the spring of 2010, I volunteered for the Missoula International School (MIS) as a middle school math tutor.
