My comments on tutoring Spelling : Learning rules for spelling is not very productive tutoring. I give strategies to children for beginning readers using phonics.

I believe in assessments to determine a childs strengths and weaknesses. I would want to have previous class work and homework assignments and determine deficiencies in a given area. I want to understand what the teacher is doing from this work. It is helpful to understand why you or your child is not being as successful as possible. Often your child's teacher is trying different strategies with computers or in class tutoring. I will improve this approach with one to one teaching in my office or in a library setting.
I am certified to teach all subjects in elementary education and college prep. I am certified to work with special needs children and diagnose their problems. As a late bloomer to my education, I understand the importance of completeing an education at the earliest time. I currently hold a BS degree in business with an emphasis on international markets. This degree has helped me to better understand and appreciate economics, business math and accounting. In pusuit of this I have written papers from a 2 page summary to an 80 page thesis. In the past years I have tutored in Spanish 101 and 102 on the college level, accounting, English Comp, Art Appreciation, Shakespeare, and Adult Basic Education for GED students.
