Professor of English: to Broaden your Mind and Skills

I have taught at both the middle and high school level in the subject of English. Within that broad subject I have taught World Literature, British Literature, Creative Writing, Rhetoric, Composition and more. I am currently a Professor at San Jacinto College where I teach collegiate level Composition.
I have a hands-on approach to teaching. It is my desire to facilitate a student's own ability to self-teach, to solve and understand new problems as they occur. My style is age-appropriate: I modify my approach to accommodate age, learning level, personality and a combination of abilities and interests. My philosophy is that it is the instructor that should make adjustments on behalf of the student, not the other was around. Any good teacher can accommodate any student with the ability to understand people.
Experience includes teaching in public and private schools prior to and following tutor certification. Research for Tutor Certification focused on the study and analysis of adult learning problems stemming from poor learning and education experienced of youth. As a late bloomer to my education, I understand the importance of completeing an education at the earliest time. I currently hold a BS degree in business with an emphasis on international markets. This degree has helped me to better understand and appreciate economics, business math and accounting. In pusuit of this I have written papers from a 2 page summary to an 80 page thesis. In the past years I have tutored in Spanish 101 and 102 on the college level, accounting, English Comp, Art Appreciation, Shakespeare, and Adult Basic Education for GED students.
