I have always had a knack for the sciences and left the Midwest to follow my love of Marine Biology. While in school, I revisted my interest in the arts (painting, piano, and animation). It was then I realized I was passionate about so many topics and didn't want to limit myself to one thing! I've worked with kids throughout my entire life, whether I was teaching swim lessons, piano lessons, or tutoring. I took Spanish for 4 years in High School use it every chance I get. If I had the time I would take on degree after degree!
Speaking to children of all ages comes naturally to me. My parents both love being teachers and have been in the game for over 30 years a piece! I traveled to schools to give presentations on my marine mammal experiences to grades K-8. I currently work for the Education Department at the Saint Louis ZOO where we strive to keep learning a blast! I bel ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have wanted to teach students my entire life. I began tutoring when I went to college. There I tutored my peers in composition and literature. As I continued my college career, I had three semesters where I taught grades 7-12. I received my BS in Education in December of 2007 and began teaching high school English at the sophomore level at a local high school. While working there, I got a job offer closer to home and began that in July of 2008. There I taught 9-12 British Literature, College Composition, Creative Writing, American Literature, and Drama. I currently have my teaching certificate which certifies me to teach 9-12 English (Language Arts) in the state of Missouri.
I am a very fun and energetic person, therefore, my teaching style reflects my personality. I usually use hands on activities to keep the students engaged and allow them to be responsible for their own ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love music and enjoy sharing and nurturing the gift of music to children and adults. Music has given me many rewards and joys and I believe music can unite people to a common togetherness like no other art form or medium. In addition to teaching music, I also regularly perform in music situations such as, churches, theatres, clubs, and community events. Through performance, I continue to learn musical ideas, which I share with my students. I have a B.A. in Music Education with graduate studies in Music Performance.
In the teaching and tutoring process, I use contemporary methods of instruction, which include the internet, mp3 examples, and DVD's. I also use traditional methods in teaching because music requires a special sharing of skill and knowledge much like other art forms. A step by step progression of skill acquisition is vital to the continued success of the student ... read more
