A Little Bit About Me...

I started tutoring in 2009 through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana. I tutor my "Little" for an hour once a week. I help with whatever subject they need. My specialty is Language Arts, but if you need help with basic math, I can do that too. I have observed many elementary, middle school, and high school classes. I know what works best, especially since I'm going to become a high school language arts teacher in a few years.
I'm patient. I'll try and make my lessons easy to understand. I know how frustrating language arts can be, but I also know how rewarding it can be as well. I can relate very easily to high school students, because I just graduated from high school 5 years ago.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! Me thinks an expert of the shakesperean verse.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a BA in English. In earning that degree I have taken several linguistic classed. With that said my knowledge of the written and spoken language is pretty strong. With holding an English degree I am trained to comprehend what I have read as well as analyzing the material. During my undergraduate years I have helped kids and peers to learn how to speed read, reading comprehension, as well as how to write a strong paper.
I like to make a difference in a child's life. I enjoy seeing the child understand what they have read or being able to sound a word out and understand its meaning. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a masters degree in psychology, specializing in child development. During my undergraduate studies, I minored in music and English. In recent years, I have taught music and English to both children and adults. I also have a great deal in knowledge in other subject areas, like history, religion, and even a little Spanish.
Very simply, I believe that an instructor should be a facilitator of the learning process, not a dictator. The best learning is that which is done by the student him/herself through experiencing and seeing things firsthand.
