I hold a permanent license from the state of Ohio for Grades Kindergarten----8. I taught in the classroom for 18 years and was actively involved in the development of individual courses of study at both above and below grade levels. For 10 years I was employed by my local church as Coordinator of Children's and Family Ministries where I worked extensively with children and families of the congregation both one on one and in groups. Throughout my experience at Otterbein, I worked in a variety of classrooms ranging from a Preschool to 3rd grade. I have experience in both suburban and urban schools working with children of varying abilities and skill levels. I completed my official Student Teaching experience in a Kindergarten classroom in a suburban school in the Westerville City School District. Due to my special education training, I am able to determine a student's learning style and teach to their strength. I also like to educate students about the different learning styles and make them aware of their learning strengths.
Columbus Public Schools 1987-1997: During this time period, I taught at the high school, middle school, and elementary level. I then left formal education to stay home with my children. While at home raising my daughters, I did home tutoring from 1989-2006. I then returned to teaching by doing home instruction for Bloom-Carroll (2003-2004)and Fairfield Union (2005). I then did two long-term subbing jobs at Pickerington HS North and Lakeview Junior High School in Pickerington for Intervention Specialists (2006 & 2007).
