My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have had 2 classes of guitar from FSU and I am a music therapist. I know the basic open chords and barre chords. No classical guitar experience.

I have played flute for 13 years and have played in many different settings including: Concert, jazz, solo, choir, etc. I studied under Dr. Shelley Binder for 4 years at the University of Tennessee, specifically working under the French school for flute. I worked with Rusty Holloway for 2 years learning the basics of Jazz and have performed in several small jazz groups. I also play guitar on a regular basis; I know the basic open chords and barre chords. I know how to teach the basics of guitar using the student's preferred music.

I have been working with youth for over ten years. As a private music instructor and substitute teacher I have had the opportunity to work with students K-12 with a wide array of abilities. During the school year of 2009-2010 I was a para-professional in a Kindergarten PDD class (pervasive development disorder/autism) where I helped administer IEP directed lessons for 8 children on the spectrum. The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.
I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
