I believe each student can learn and it’s my responsibility to find how each one learns best. So much of it is about instilling confidence in the student that he or she is intelligent and capable of mastering the subject. I have been very successful at this and have often had short tutoring assignments: once we discover what is keeping a student from grasping the subject, fixing it is easy and then the student can proceed on their own with or without the help of a parent. The younger the student, the more I appreciate having the parent involved in what I am doing, and the results we are achieving, so they can actively participate with their child, especially once I am no longer needed.

It has been said that no one rises to low expectations. I believe that every child CAN learn, but that the process of teaching each child must vary depending on their learning style. Upon completing a BS in Education (Dual Certification), I decided to go on for a MDiv in Theology. I was ordained a minister, and thus spent 40+ years teaching, counseling,and preaching. I feel that I have dedicated my whole life to teaching others. I am committed not only to religion, but enjoy teaching basic living and social skills. My wife and I have raised 2 children and I helped in their elementary school classrooms, upon occasion. Today, I help with our 5 grandchildren and assist in their classrooms at times.
