My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : My nephew has ADHD and I also have ADD, so I know how to work with those type of children.

I have not tutored as an actual job ever, though I have done many other things that would be considered tutoring. I help my 12 year old nephew with his homework and have done so for about a year. I taught Sunday School at church for two years. My friends and other students have always come to me for help with essays and other English related assignments. Whether it be general proofreading, paragraph writing, paragraph flow, etc, that is the type of help I gave. I also have several Korean friends at college who are learning English as their second language, and one Finnish friend who learned English as her fifth language. I explain the basics to them, and help them learn English. I've learned that I do well in this field, and would like to continue with a paying job.

Even though I am young, I do know how to convey teaching skills with the "up-to-date" mind set of today's generation. I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects. While still in the service, I utilized my lunch breaks and evenings to further my education and emerged with my AA and completed Nurse Assistant training while still serving and my BS only one year later; two months after retiring. I retired last year after 33 years of United States Air Force military and civilian service. I have earned a BA in Sociology and an AS in Engineering Design Drafting. Throughout my career, I often found myself providing both individual tutoring and group instruction. One of my most enjoyable positions was as a full-time satellite scheduler instructor where I would train newly hired employees both individually and as a group.
