Confidence creates an interest in learning

I have taught students ranging fro pre-school to 12th grade and also tutored at the unversity level. I feel most confident with students ranging from 3rd to 6th grade and at the college level or older. My main strengths are an ability to adapt to students with special needs and recognize that a lack of interest or focus is often the result of a lack of confidence. I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA.
