I was diagnosed as ADD when I was in elementary school. My issue with the diagnosis always was, "Is there something wrong with me that I can't sit down and listen for hours with a pencil and paper, or is it with the fact I have to sit down and listen for hours with only a pencil and paper?" When I became a general education teacher, I worked towards making my math lessons activity-based while rotating through small groups of students for personalized lessons.
