A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children learn differently. I, myself, am a very hands-on learner and I have expressed my learning styles in my teaching styles and it has been very receptive. I believe that as a teacher/tutor, one needs to find what the child is interested in and use that knowledge to adapt the curriculum to them.
I have earned a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training and a minor in Strength and Conditioning, which has given me an advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and other sciences, as well as medical terminology. I have taught a student athletic training class for 3 summers at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI. Also, my job as a certified athletic trainer allows me to be in constant contact with school-age children and athletes.

I enjoy working with all children and using experiments to solidify the scientific method. I have found that hands on learning is often the easiest to comprehend and can be an important teaching tool and when coupled with repetition and reinforcement of key points it can lead to a complete understanding of a complex subject.
I have extensive education and volunteer experience working within the biological sciences. I graduated in 2004 from Edgewood College in Madison, WI with a degree in Biological Sciences. I have worked in many fields of science including wildlife rehabilitation, solid waste management, and fisheries management. I have extensive experience working with young children and youth (13-17) during my career as a wildlife biologist. I was involved in hosting a science camp for children and youth where we covered many scientific topics including Biology and Anatomy.
