As a college graduate I found that my skills were better off served outside the classroom and could better be used in a one-on-one situation instead of 15 kids at once. I hold a BS in Communication with concentration on English. I have extensive experience with writing and editing as I have worked for various publications. During the past years I have tutored a number of children helping them to read. In addition I have spent countless hours teaching computers to various ages from 10-60 years of age. I spent nine semester at FMCC in the TRiO Student Support Services program. I began as a part time tutor and after one semester the program director saw it prudent to keep me on. During my time with the program I helped to establish several tutoring programs, one at FM and another at Amsterdam High School for the Upward Bound Grant funded program. In having a great passion for working with/teaching children, I think that it is immensely important to remember that everyone has a different way of learning.
