I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. For two years in a row, I taught a Beginner's Guitar course for children and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. A Little Bit About Me...

Tutored students as a part of an after school program with inner-city, Washington High School. Assisted the struggling students with brainstorming paper topics, clearly communicating ideas, general textbook use, critical thinking, future goal making. I also made a point to get to the students as people not projects. Throughout college I regularly worked with Spanish speaking students to develop clear papers on a variety of subjects. I also helped them edit for proper grammar and sentence structure.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with young children, and helping them to understand the subject and how to apply it in their daily life. My overall goal is to help the child understand for their own good. It defeats the purpose if the child can do math or english while I am sitting right next to them. I want them to be able to retain the knowledge so when they are at school they can remember what they learned and apply it on their own.
As I recent college graduate, I spent my four years gaining knowledge, as well as learning different teaching techniques. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club at the local middle school for my entire four years of college. Monday through Friday, I tutored elementary and middle school students in math, english, and health.

I have several years experience working in the public school system but currently work in the juvenile justice system teaching adjudicated youth English Langauge Arts. I earned my BA in History and English from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2005. I completed my teaching certification requirements the same year and hold a Michigan Teacher's Certification in both ENG and HIST at the secondary level. While attending classes, I worked with kids at all age levels and have tutored 1st graders to seniors in high school.
I teach using different styles, based on what the student needs. I feel I work best with students who become easily frustrated and need assistance when faced with new challenges. I am a firm believer that education is your key to success in the future and try to instill this belief in all my students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Oakland University in 2008 with a BS in Biology and a minor in French. Since then, I have been working on research assignments with a bariatric surgeon from the Detroit Medical Center. The last four years, I have tutored students in the first grade and third through eleventh grade levels. In my experience, I have helped students in English, reading comprehension, all branches of the sciences, mathematics and French. I have also worked with a couple of students that have suffered academically from ADD and have had practice dealing with a number of difficulties they have faced.
