A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my degree in earth and atmospheric science I was a tutor to underclassmen at my university in the subjects of earth science and geography. I have a firm understanding of earth science, meteorology, geography, physics and geology. As a senior, I completed extensive research in 3 upper level classes, completing a 6 credit independent study class with an A as well as two other independent study classes with A's. I enjoy teaching and instructing young children how to ride horses in my free time.
I enjoy teaching individuals as well as small groups, understanding each person has specific needs and study habits. I have been an amateur tutor ever since high school, when I tutored classmates for free. I spent 6 years as a nuclear trained electrician in the US Navy, 10 years in academia where I studied and taught psychology, biology, and communications, and the past 10 years in retail management. I took it upon myself to conduct impromptu training sessions in many different areas of study while in the Navy, and actively helped shipmates engaged in external study programs. I have taught science in grades 7 -12 in a 5 different public schools over a course of 15 years. I taught high school level Earth science for 2 years, HS Biology and AP Biology for 12 years, HS Chemistry for 8 years and Physics for 4 years. I taught 7 and 8th grade in the Albany Public schools for 4 years. I currently work with adults with disabilities teaching them work and social skills and will be teaching a Child Development course beginning 9/29/10. I have done individual and small group tutoring in Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Junior High school level science.
