I believe in challenging a student to do more than they were aware they could do - I have consistently found that individuals give themselves less credit than they deserve. I believe in making a lesson relevant to a student - keep it abstract and it will remain difficult, but bring it home and they will own it. I am excellent at distilling the basic lessons within a topic into take-home messages that give the student more than merely a list to memorize; they get actual working knowledge that will not erode so quickly from memory.
