A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching because it helps students as much as it helps me. Being able to explain material helps retain knowledge and skills associated with the subject matter. I enjoy seeing students and colleagues be successful in their learning experience.
As a student at Lynchburg College, I have had the opportunity to serve as a Peer Assisted Study Session Leader in general and organic chemistry. I will complete my BS in Biomedical Science in May 2011, with a wide range a science experience, from immunology to organic chemistry. The past 3 years, I have led PASS tutor sessions helping classmates understand and learn the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

Education has always been extremely important to me. To me there is no greater feeling than finally grasping a difficult concept and I love helping someone else achieve that feeling. Consistently during grade school, high school, and college, other students came to me for help with their schoolwork and I enjoyed providing them with a new perspective, or recapping the teacher’s lecture. I have worked as a tutor for migrant aid workers’ children, helping them to learn English, as well as with Biology, Math and Grammar. I have a BA in Biology with extensive credit hours in Chemistry. I have also worked as a Chemist for two and a half years. I have always enjoyed English and Grammar and have consistently excelled in both.

I have spent several years as a student and tutor at the university level. I am planning to enter medical school in the Fall of 2012 and as such have developed a strong foundation in the sciences throughout my undergraduate education. Although I majored in Biology, my true passion is Chemistry. I spent 2 years on a religious service mission where I became fluent in Spanish. I am fascinated by the ability to communicate with an entirely new group of people. I learned Spanish by being immersed in the culture and have since studied Spanish at the university level in order to understand the "rules" behind speaking the language.
