This is my second time tutoring and my first time was a great experience. It was stressful a first but after I formed a bond with those I tutored, everything else was simple. In high school, Math as never my strongest subjects, and it still isn't unless its Elementary Math. I had to take ALGEBA 1 three times! Any History subject and Language Arts is my strongest areas. I have been in education for 18 years. I started in special education and general education. I taught math, English, reading, science, and history. I also taught the GED and the state test (CA). I tutored all subjects to homebound students. I facilitated reading programs and held workshops for teachers that taught special needs students. I was also a high school counselor for 5 years and have my credential in school psychology I love working with students and my style is direct teaching; I feel that a student needs to master the concept being taught before moving on to the next level.

I use both tactile and working through examples to explain how to solve a problem. I like to break down the problems into smaller pieces and work each piece at a time. I also backtrack to previous related concepts to ensure understanding. I have experience tutoring elementary math, algebra, geometry, college algebra , and preparation for the ASVAB and SAT tests. While tutoring my students I not only explain the method in solving a math problem, but I also challenge them with leading questions. I want to ultimately help them to develop a process to efficiently work through a problem. Also, I have a strong desire for my students to succeed in passing their class. Finally, I am passionate about students reaching their goals in math and other areas of their life.

I taught ABE classes for Saint Charles Community College at NECC from 1998 to 2003. I have earned a BA in Social Science and majored in Political Science and History and minored in Spanish and Religious studies. I love learning and helping others learn. I was introduced to Philosophy in college, and beleive that every subject anyone has difficulty with can be turned around just by introducing them to some basic Logic. I do hands on instruction I try to relate whatever concept I am attempting to teach into a hands on experiment so the student can see, feel or even smell things that will help make things easy for them to remember.
