I believe every child has the right to learn. I believe every child learns different. I believe in teaching according to the way a child learns. I am more open to the one-on-one teaching because I believe that this allows that student and the teacher to build a better rapport with one another, therefore the teacher is better able to understand how the student learns and is able to help the student better succeed. This is better for the student as well because he/she now has that one-on-one interaction with the teacher that they are not able to have in a traditional classroom. Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! I am a writer and have published a book. I taught writing every year of my thirty-two year career.

I have worked with children and teens all my life. I was a camp counselor at a YMCA camp for 6 summers in my teens and early 20s. I taught 5th grade my first year (class of 36 students!) and then taught 3rd grade for a year, 2nd grade for three years, and 4th grade for three years--all in public schools. Then I taught English at the middle school level for four years in a private school. After that I subbed and tutored for a year until I was hired to teach in a K-8 building at the 8th grade level. I taught there for nearly 20 years before I retired, teaching science, pre-algebra, and communication arts (English, reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, and spelling.) While in that position, I was the sponsor of the science fair, building-wide, for nearly ten years. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I am a semi-professional writer and am working on my first novel. I have written poems and many articles on the Internet. Creative writing has always been an integral part of my classroom.
