I started tutoring in 9th grade, and continued until my freshman year of college. I tutored middle school and high school students in math, sciences, and social studies. In college I tutored in Level 1 and 2 French, Psychology, and College Level Algebra. I have tutored both male and female students, and have worked with people with reading and learning disabilities. I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I think Math is the most beautiful subject and the highest form of human expression. A lot of times people are turned away from it due to a high school math experience that they perceive as dry and boring. When I tell people I love math, I too often hear "well, better you than me!" I think part of the high school math experience should include turning students on to mathematical discovery. Confronting confusion and working through to develop an understanding that feels personal and thorough.
