A Little Bit About Me...

As a senior at Winston-Salem State University, I have strived for high academics in the Biological sciences. I will be graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Biology/Chemistry in June 2012. Throughout my journey through college I’ve learned successful strategies in science and mathematics that could help others. I have gained eight months experience tutoring other students in basic science and basic mathematics throughout their freshmen year and would love to continue assisting others. I consider myself a facilitator of information more than a teacher. Students must be accountable for their own learning. In math and science, it is important that students know how to apply knowledge rather than merely memorize information. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids.
