I like to have visuals. They are important no matter what age. i use powerpoint, pictures, think of stories, and try to get the students involved as much as they can. People either learn, by seeng, doing, or both, so it is good to teach using all of the learning tools. As a business major I learned alot about the importance of language and communication. I took classes in english, and writing. I was a tutor for over 100 students for 2 years in finance and taght a class twice a week on Microsoft Excel. In high school I volunteered at an elementary school to help children with ADD and behavioral issues for 3 trimesters. I was a staff member at Cedar Badge, a week long leadership training course for scouts, teaching leadership skills.

In Elementary I tutored for about a year. I also worked at a youth camp for kids with add adhd drug issues and anger problems. I have my A.S. in business and am very good with Math. I have also helped my little siblings with homework. I am really good with kids. What I excel at is relating info. I can tell when someone is struggling, and usually know how to rectify the situation. I really enjoyed when I was able to tutor in elementary. The kids that I worked with had real problems in Math. With all of the kids that I taught they learned quick, just not the way teachers taught. I had to come up with different methods to relate the subject to them.

I love how all types of people have different ways of learning. I am very good at adapting to find out how best the person learns, so its not simply a boring exercise--more of the same, if you will. I am a kid at heart. I understand and relate to children of all ages. I believe that if you are patient with those that are trying to learn, and can find things that they relate to, teaching becomes easier for everyone involved. I have found success in the past with helping youth, and am confident that I can earn their trust enough to assist them in their studies. I had a son with some special needs. I had to help him with his math throughout most of his junior high and high school years. From time to time, other students in my neighborhood have asked for assistance with their school studies.
