The majority of my experience has been in fourth grade, but I have also had the opportunity to teach fifth and third grades. I love to teach by using the hands on technique. I will do whatever I can to see that the student grasp what is being taught. It is so neat to watch how sometimes you will see the light flick on and you know they "have it". I also will provide hand outs and use the computer to give them extra practice. One of my favorite skills when I returned to graduate school was learning why letters made all the different sounds they do. I love phonics! Whenever I don't have an answer to why a word is spelled the way it is, I make it my challenge to find out!
