My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. As teachers it is our job to meet the needs of all learners. I do not believe in presently material in one way, or one way all the time. I am a graduate of both the University of Colorado and Adams State College. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Education as well as a Initial Teacher's license. I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. I also have experience as a mentor to young people through the YMCA.

I believe teaching should be child friendly and as interactive as possible. When learning is fun, even difficult concepts become easy. My goal is to motivate children to succeed and teach them that they can do anything if they put forth their best effort. I strive to create an environment where students can focus feel safe to take risks. With positive reinforcement I hope to encourage and motivate students as well as instill confidence in them. While I was attending college I worked in child care with a variety of ages preparing lessons for enrichment. I also taught as an adjunct professor for adult ESL at Aims Community College. After finishing my degree, I taught for five years at Wiggins Elementary in 2nd and 6th grade. I was trained in FAST reading program as well as many others for teaching reading and math. I received my bachelors’ degree in May, 2004 from Metropolitan State College with a BA in Behavioral Science (minor: Elementary Education). In the fall of 2004 I continued my education at MSCD by enrolling in the teacher preparation program, pursuing an endorsement in elementary education. 12 semester hours of student teaching remain before I obtain my teaching license; however, for personal reasons, I have stopped attending school for the time being. The teacher preparation program at MSCD includes an academic year of pre-student teaching internships. From January 2004-May 2004 I interned in a third grade classroom, and from August 2004-December 2004 interned in a fifth grade classroom.
