Through my life I have excelled in the subject of music. I am fortunate enough to have studied with great private instructors and professors, and am seasoned going on 5 years of teaching in the public school setting. As a high school instructor, I have 5 Choral ensembles in addition to my management of the Choral Department and courses of piano and American Contemporary Music. In previous years teaching, I have worked with grades 4-12 including general music curriculum, choral instruction and Marching Band. I am proficient with music theory, and excel in teaching aural skills to prep for the AP Music Theory exam. Zaven Parsamyan is a native of Yerevan, Armenia. He began his piano studies at age six under Yakov Zargarian and Ivan Meliksetian at the Tchaikovsky School of Music for gifted children in Yerevan. After his graduation from the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan he was named professor of that school and later, vice-rector of its branch in Spain. Since his student years, Mr. Parsamyan has been performing solo and with orchestra, teaching extensively throughout Armenia, Russia and Western Europe. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been performing since i was a child. Attended Julliard school of music, City colege of NY. Published two albums of my own and has recorded with a host of astist as a sideman. I am a multi-instrumentalist playing piano,bass(electric and acoustic), all percussions,composer and arranger. I have earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in music performance
I love teaching students of all ages. It is very satisfying to see their eyes light up when they realize they got it. One method i use is to teach the the music that they love and apply the theory and technique to it, and gradually introduce them to more challenging works. I can improvise at a moments notice to help get the lesson across, even if it means focusing on one task at a time. My goal is to make the learning experience as pleasant as possible.

I thoroughly enjoy working one-on-one with students so that we can start a dialogue of questions and suggestions that is beneficial to the student's understanding of the subject matter. I believe in order to be a strong writer, one must increase their literacy by reading literature of substance, while also striving to write whenever possible and in any capacity. With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above.
