With degrees in both Psychology and Religion from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, combined with the pre-requisites required for Veterinary School entrance, I am well qualified to teach and tutor a variety of subjects. During my college career I also studied engineering, so I am able to tutor advanced math and engineering as well. I have an extensive research background so I am able to assist students with lengthy research papers and laboratory reports. I started off being an elementary aide/tutor in 1988 in public schools. I loved working with children so I decided to go back to college to become a teacher. I attended several colleges in different cities (where my husband, daughter and I lived at the time). We moved to Amarillo,Tx. in 1994 where I attended Amarillo College to finish my basic hours. I transferred to West Texas A&M University in Canyon,Texas. I graduated in 1998 with a BS in elementary education and a concentration in math- grade levels 1st through 8th. I have taught 1st and 3rd grade and also 8 years of middle school math.

I have developed a style of teaching that allows students to focus on their strengths and use them to incorporate different methods to overcoming their weaknesses. I believe that learning is best experienced in an environment where open discussion is welcome. My experience has taught me that students thrive more when engaged in conversation, critical thinking, and application of material rather than in a simple lecture format. Furthermore, I have found that students have a better chance of excelling when they find an application of a topic interesting and are allowed to focus on that topic.
