I believe that if I can understand something, then everyone else can. I help students by convincing them that they can understand to build up confidence. Students and I work at what needs to be memorized such as formulas and basic concepts, learning to apply and work with these basics step by step, and at the same time, as I watch, strengthening weak areas. I often times use diagrams as needed and supply additional material. Some years ago a friend told me that volunteer help was really needed for the adult GED program in our local area.
