My comments on tutoring Testing Strategies : Testing skills and strategies go hand in hand. As previously stated, I am extremely knowledgeable of the assessments required for k-5 students in public schools. Since this is my first year not working, my knowledge is also current.

I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven. I have discovered that the most successful way to teach a child how to read is gaining their interest and full attention, while observing what learning style is best for each individual child. While teaching I use an assortment of manipulatives, repetitive phonics instruction, and books! Whatever works for your child, works for me! This is my first year not teaching in the public schools, and I am very familiar with the assessments and expectations. I have led professional development on mclass for K-3, and have years of successful experiences in preparing students for EOGs. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
