A Little Bit About Me...

Being a college graduate has allowed me to pursue my dream of helping and working with children. I have earned a BS in Human Services with a concentration in Psychology, and am currently enrolled in a Master's program for Community Mental Health Counseling. Throughout my college career, I have attained extensive knowledge in regards to writing, reading, psychology, and study habits. In addition, I have excellent mathematical and communication skills. I have worked as a tutor in my college's writing center and as a teaching assistant in major course requirements. I will graduate at the end of this month with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English, having completed more than 90 credit hours in literature studies and 18 credit hours of creative writing. I am a recipient of the Haussner Endowed Writing Award and have presented my work at the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society annual convention (2010 & 2011) and my college's Student Research Day. My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since obtaining my Master’s degree I have had the opportunity to work in coaching and reading specialist positions. This entailed working with both experienced and beginning teachers and students. Through cognitive coaching I formed relationships with these teachers, which allowed me to share my knowledge of best teaching practices in the reading content. As a mentor for the district however, my duties were similar to my coaching position, but I was accountable for supporting my mentees with research-based strategies that were applicable to all content areas.
